CNT: The Bentaher-Mhamdi Alaoui duo unveils its program
It revolves around co-construction, competitiveness and sustainability
The number one objective of the pair is to create momentum, bring together and mobilize all the communities of players in the tourism industry for a sustainable and daring recovery.
After having validated their candidacy on Friday June 25 for the presidency and vice-presidency of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), Hamid Bentahar and Hicham Mhamdi Alaoui are campaigning with all the presidents of the trade federations and the presidents of the regional associations of the sector. Motivated and well prepared for these elections, scheduled for July 17, they have just unveiled their program in this electoral race against the opposing pair Benabbés-Taarji and Aziz Cherif-Alami. “In an economic context where tourist demand is under pressure, where global competition is intense, it is important to preserve and strengthen the competitiveness of the Moroccan offer.
Tourism operators of all trades must be involved in this exercise. Our mission at the CNT is to do everything possible to help all players and companies of all sizes to recover from this crisis and beyond, to project themselves into the future ”, explains Mr. Bentahar, who is at the head of the Regional Tourism Council of Marrakech and also CEO of Accor Maroc, noting that “we can only get there through a process of co-construction with representatives of all regions and all trades , a collaboration which integrates the specificities of all: hoteliers, tour operators, transporters, restaurateurs, tour guides… the entire value chain must be integrated ”.
In addition, the program of Mr. Bentahar and his running mate Mr. Mhamdi is therefore structured around three major themes relating to co-construction, competitiveness and sustainability.
The new pair’s ambition is to contribute in a responsible manner to the sustainable competitiveness of the sector, supported by a fabric of creative and resilient companies. “Together we are stronger to defend our interests and the resilience of our companies. With determination, we will have to strengthen our institutions, our business associations and our regional associations, ”says Mr. Bentahar.
The contender for the presidency of the CDT announces that the number one objective of his pair is therefore to create momentum, bring together and mobilize all the communities of players in the tourism industry for a sustainable and daring recovery. Regarding competitiveness, the CNT will, according to this pair, immediately get down to renewing the support measures of the program contract, reconsidering the long-term banking schedule with the GPBM, and strengthening the intervention of the CCG and finally the treatment of tax liabilities and the tax payable under 2021. Finally, in terms of sustainability, the vision would be to focus on three major subjects of human capital formation, the impact societal and environmental and innovation and creativity. Mr. Bentahar and his running mate share that the profession must be strong and united to prepare for the relaunch of the sector.
Thus, they are working on support measures to guarantee a recovery in activity in the short term and on a recovery plan strictly speaking in the longer term. “This crisis that we have been experiencing for over a year and a half has demonstrated the need to build, with regional associations and business federations, sustainable solutions for our sector to guarantee the sustainability of companies and the entire value chain. “, Says Mr. Bentahar, before adding that today,” we have seriously weakened professions: our responsibility at the CNT and in the professional associations is to support them to better understand the structural transformation of their professions, to guarantee the interest in skills of their teams so that each profession has its place in our industry and contributes to its competitiveness ”.
